Tencent to team up with American Express for cross-border online payment service

Chinese internet company Tencent plans to team up with American Express to provide cross-border online payments, online media outlet reuters.com reports.

Under the terms of the deal, users of Tencents Tenpay will be able to make online purchases on US and UK websites. Tenpay is a platform which provides individual and corporate users with online payment services. Tenpay offers individual users account services, including collection, payment, trading inquiry management and credit agency. Furthermore, Tenpay provides corporate users with a payment clearing platform.

In recent news, Tencent has acquired 15.68 percent stake in software developer Kingsoft Corporation, planning to make a strategic investment. Following the acquisition, Tencent intends to invest in Kingsoft Internet Security Software, an internet security services provider under Kingsoft Corporation to provide internet security services for the users. The two companies also plan to collaborate on internet application software and online game markets.
