Ukash has been offering its services in Buenos Aires since February 2011 and has now decided to expand across the whole country by entering an agreement with online retailer More. Consumers can now use Ukash to make purchases in more than 100 nationwide More outlets.
In order to be able to shop, pay and play online with Ukash, Argentinian customers will have to provide their name, ID number and address when first accessing the More stores. Once this registration process is completed, customers can confirm their name and address verbally in order to purchase Ukash vouchers.
According to the company’s research, bank account penetration in Argentina is quite low, with cash transactions accounting for 42 percent of all purchases, as compared to only 4.6 percent card transactions.
Ukash allows people worldwide to use cash electronically and is available at 420,000 retail locations in over 50 countries globally.
Most recently, Ukash partnered South African payment gateway PayU Payment Solutions to allow online businesses to accept the latter as an additional cash-based online payment method.
