Wirecard launches payment product for merchants in South Africa

Wednesday 1 August 2018 00:44 CET | News

Wirecard has announced the release of secureEFT in South Africa to streamline online sales for merchants.

SecureEFT is an instant electronic funds transfer payment service that allows customers to make secure online payments directly into a bank account and be notified in real-time. Merchants who receive payments from consumers via EFT will be able to get instant notification of settlement.

According to Statista, online orders in South Africa will grow: revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2018-2022) of 13.2%, resulting in a market volume of USD 5,431m in 2022. EFT payments are the second most popular online payment methods in South Africa; with it, citizens pay their rent and fees.

As many consumers in South Africa still do not use payment cards, Wirecard aims to accelerate the completion of the purchase process when goods or services are purchased online and paid for by EFT.
