Monday 6 December 2010 15:15 CET | News

Global payments provider RBS WorldPay, rebranded as WorldPay, has become an independent company, with the purchase of private equity firms Advent International and Bain Capital from The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBSG). RBSG is expected to retain a minority stake in the company.

As a result, the new company has added industry specialists to its management team and is investing USD 315 million to enhance its card and e-payment services.

Moreover, WorldPay is expected to be structured in three divisions: in the UK, via the Streamline brand, a provider of PoS payment services in Europe; in the US, WorldPay is expected to offer its services for the card payments market, whereas WorldPay’s e-commerce services are set to be available globally.

WorldPay is the largest provider of card payment services in the UK and Europe and the fourth largest globally. Headquartered in the UK, the company employs over 2,600 people in 30 markets throughout Europe, the US and Asia.
