ZipZap teams up with SafetyPay

Friday 9 March 2012 00:11 CET | News

ZipZap, an alternative payments company, has entered a partnership with SafetyPay, a US-based online payment systems developer.

Under the terms of the agreement, SafetyPay will add ZipZaps CashPay service as its preferred cash payment option for e-commerce merchants across all channels.

ZipZaps CashPay service enables consumers to make purchases online and pay cash offline in their local neighborhood via a global network of more than 700,000 payment centers.

Although SafetyPay has revealed plans to offer this new payment option to all merchant partners, one of the main industries targeted for implementation will be travel. As a result, SafetyPay’s travel industry merchant partners will now be able to provide cash-preferred consumers with a way to purchase online travel services.

Currently World Bank estimates that more than 50 percent of the global population does not have access to banking or credit, while Javelin Research indicates that 30 percent of consumers will spend more online if they can pay with cash. The new partnership between SafetyPay and ZipZap will provide this growing market segment with payment services for online transactions.

In recent news, ZipZap has teamed up with Xsolla, a global virtual currency reseller, to enable gaming publishers to expand their player base to tweens/teens and users who do not have a credit card or bank account or prefer to pay with cash.
