Wednesday 8 December 2010 10:24 CET | News

Global payment services company MoneyGram has joined forces with US-based convenience retail chain operator 7-Eleven to launch a self-service money transfer program for Australian residents.

Developed in partnership with Australian consulting company Cullinan Consulting Group, the new MoneyGram self-service money transfer functionality, offered through a specially-designed kiosk, will be available in approximately 400 stores of 7-Eleven located across the Australian states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

The technology uses an electronic touch screen kiosk and cloud computing infrastructure to allow customers to complete their part of the money transfer on the screen which supports English as well as seven other languages. Before being fully-implemented, the MoneyGram funds transfer service was launched as a pilot in nine Victoria-based stores.

In recent news, MoneyGram has teamed up with US-based online financial services provider Online Resources to offer same-day cash payment services from MoneyGram US agent locations to Online Resources billers.
