Barclays Bank cuts outsourcing deal with Accenture

Tuesday 12 January 2010 10:47 CET | News

UK-based financial services provider Barclays Bank has decided not to renew an outsourcing agreement with global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company Accenture.

The agreement, signed in 2004, was worth an estimated GBP 400 million, online news outlet computerweekly.com reports. Barclay’s decision not to renew the six-year Accenture deal, which expires at the end of June 2010, was prompted by “commercial reasons”, the same source indicates. As a result, the UK bank is planning to bring the application development and management of Barclays commercial and retail banking systems in-house.
