BIBD, Wincor Nixdorf to launch biometric-enabled ATMs in Brunei

Brunei-based financial institution Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) is expected to launch biometric ATMs and ProView software from Wincor Nixdorf, a global provider of transaction and payment services for the banking and retail markets. With this agreement, BIBD aims to monitor the banks entire network of ATMs.

The technology provided by Wincor Nixdorf is set to allow customers to use the biometric ATMs with a bank card, while their fingerprint identification is expected to replace the traditional use of remembering and then inputting a number password.

BIBD has launched Brunei’s first biometric ATM at the end of October 2011, while seven more ProCash 8000 biometric-enabled ATMs will be deployed in November 2011.

BIBD has also signed up for Wincor Nixdorfs ProView software, which is set to monitor all the systems in the network regardless of the ATM manufacturer.
