BPC Banking Technologies, a provider of open system e-payment solutions for the global financial industry, and financial services provider Alpha Bank, have completed the first certified Visa PayWave launch in Russia.

Alfa-Bank’s customers are now able to enjoy the contactless payments at the point of sale with the help of BPC’s SmartVista Alfa-Bank. With Visa PayWave, transactions can be carried out without the need for a PIN or signature. To be able to pay for goods or services, cardholders have to wave the card at special adapted PayWave card readers at the point of sale. The payment transaction is processed as a normal Visa transaction. The PayWave chip provides security to guard against fraudulent transactions with 128-bit technology which generates unique cryptograms for each transaction.

In recent news, BPC Banking Technologies has signed an agreement to implement its SmartVisa suite for Vietnam financial services provider OceanBank.
