BPC Banking Technologies, Banca Transilvania launch Western Union money transfers via ATMs

Russian e-payment and retail banking services provider BPC Banking Technologies has teamed up with Romanian financial company Banca Transilvania to make the Western Union money transfer service available via the latter’s ATM network.

As a result, Banca Transilvania is expected to enable its customers to send and receive Western Union money transfers at the bank’s ATMs across the country, on a permanent basis. In addition, the bank’s customers can view the history of their money transfers on the ATM screen.

Banca Transilvania customers’ can make transfers by using bank cards or cash. Funds can be picked up at any of Western Union’s 385.000 agent locations in over 200 countries and territories around the globe.

Together with BPC and Western Union, Banca Transilvania has added new capabilities to its payments infrastructure to support the new service. Banca Transilvania operates a portfolio comprising over 1.5 million cards; its extended network also includes over 12,000 POS-terminals and 800 ATMs.
