US-based payment technology company Hypercom has signed an agreement with Cielo, an electronic payment services provider in Latin America, in a bid to expand its security product portfolio on the Brazilian territory.

Under the terms of the deal, Hypercom will authorize Cielo to deploy more than 30,000 Hypercom Optimum T4205 countertop terminals for its merchant customers located throughout Brazil. The deployment is expected to be completed by the end of September 2010.

Hypercom’s expansion in Latin America has been consolidated through a recent agreement forged with financial services provider Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (BNCR) under which the latter has purchased more than 13,000 Hypercom Optimum countertop and mobile payment terminals.
