US-based data security provider Cybera has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a participating organization.

As a result, Cybera is expected to collaborate with the Council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard and other payment card data protection standards and to provide feedback on such standards.

The Council is an open global forum which includes over 600 organizations. The organization was founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa; its main focus is to ensure the development and implementation of security standards for account data protection.

The PCI DSS requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data integrity.
