Fifth Third Bank, Western Union enter agreement for money transfer network

US financial services provider Fifth Third Bank has teamed up with global money transfer services provider Western Union.

According to the deal, the bank is to implement the Western Union money transfer service at the bank’s 1,300 banking centre locations in 12 states. Consumers will be able to access the Western Union money-transfer services within the next several months. Western Union operates a network of over 44,000 agent locations in the US. In 2008, the number of Western Union consumer-to-consumer money transfers the company managed reached 188 million.
