Turkish financial institution Garanti Bank has selected the IBM System z mainframe servers as the basis of its banking infrastructure.

Under the terms of the agreement, IBM has provided Garanti Bank with a service based on two IBM System z Enterprise Class servers running the IBM z/OS operating system. The core banking systems run on an IBM Customer Information Control System (CICS) Transaction Server mainframe with data managed using IBM DB2 for z/OS software.

With the implementation, Garanti Bank is expected to provide its customers with banking services across different channels, including banking branches, ATMs, PoSs, internet and mobile. The new IBM System z Mainframe servers are expected to enable Garanti Banks to provide services to more than 950,000 clients and process over 200 million transactions a day.

In recent news, Garanti Bank is set to upgrade protection for all its cards products, consumer loans, credit card applications and current account / DDA transactions via FICO Falcon Fraud Manager 6 powered by global decision management services provider FICO.
