Monday 20 December 2010 09:48 CET | News

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has deployed a suite of multi-service payment machines in 20 Metro stations across the Indian city of Delhi, timesofindia.indiatimes.com reports.

According to the source, the new payment machines are set to provide users with mobile bill payment as well as recharge services. Commuters can use these machines for making transactions by inserting money in the slot provided in the machine. The machines are touch-screen based and allow the user to select the desired service or service provider from the screen to complete the payment or recharge transaction.

In order to carry out the transaction, users have to type their mobile phone number from the keypad on the touch screen and then proceed with the transaction by inserting the required amount of money in the designated slot. The machine can accept currency notes up to the denomination of Rs 1,000 (USD 25) and will generate a receipt after the transaction has been completed successfully.

The multi-service payment machines will be gradually installed in all 132 operational Metro stations in approximately two months, the same source notes.
