Tuesday 8 March 2011 10:14 CET | News

French payment products and services company Ingenico has teamed up with the Indian merchant services provider MRL PosNET to roll out India’s first Line Encryption service on a POS terminal.

The partnership is set to deliver a POS application which allows the encryption of POS messages across different communication channels, including DSL broadband, cable modem broad band, data-enabled GPRS SIM or data-enabled CMDA fixed wireless phones.

The Line Encryption service is based on the MRL PoSNET SecureNET which enables merchants to make transactions using any open network infrastructure. SecureNET is built on the Ingenico platform and is set to encrypt the entire transaction packet from the POS to the Switch via 3DES encryption as well as Visa best practices for key generation, storage, transportation and injection.

In 2011,MRL PosNET and Ingenico are set to make available 25.000 POS terminals integrated with SecureNET, aimed at Indian merchants and POS acquirers.
