Lloyds launches talking ATMs across the UK

Thursday 5 December 2013 08:46 CET | News

UK-based financial institution Lloyds Banking Group has introduced Talking ATMs across Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland to enable blind and partially sighted customers to withdraw cash and check balances.

The Lloyds Banking Group has worked with the Royal National Institute of Blind People to ensure that the machines serve the needs of those who are visually impaired. Lloyds Banking Group will have a total of almost 1,300 Talking ATMs working across the UK by the end of 2013.

Talking ATMs are cash machines with an audio jack socket and a volume control button which can talk to customers, providing audio instructions to help them complete their transactions.

In June 2013, Lloyds Banking Group partnered with mobile financial technology company Monitise to develop a suite of mobile card acceptance solutions for micro-merchants, start-ups and small business owners.
