US ATM/debit networks provider Pulse has signed a European ATM acceptance contract with Trionis, an interbank processing network.

According to the deal between the two companies, over 74,000 Trionis ATMs installed in various European countries will be able to process ATM transactions for Diners Club International and Discover cards. ATMs of banks in Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg and Belgium already accept Diners Club cards. Starting October 2009, Discover cards will be accepted at Trionis European ATMs as well.

Trionis is owned by banks across nine European countries, the European Savings Banks Group and US electronic commerce and payment processing services provider First Data. The Pulse ATM/debit network is part of Discover Financial Services. It currently serves over 4,500 banks, credit unions and savings institutions across the US. The network links cardholders with more than 289,000 ATMs, as well as POS terminals at retail locations.
