Thursday 26 March 2009 14:44 CET | News

Coffee company Starbucks Coffee has awarded a contract to developer of ATMs USA Technologies (USAT) to add contactless payment terminals from USAT to its branded, single-cup coffee-brewing machines.

Starbucks plans to distribute approximately 500 Starbucks Interactive Cup cashless brewers to office coffee distributors and vending services companies throughout the US and Canada.

Starbucks Coffee’s cashless brewers are manufactured by Cafection Enterprises and will embed USATs ePort G8 terminals. The devices will accept both traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards and contactless payment cards, including those featuring MasterCards PayPass, Visas PayWave, American Express Express Pay and Discover Networks Zip contactless payment technology.
