Under the terms of the deal, the companies will jointly develop a range of cloud-based managed security services, including security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion prevention services, anti-malware, content control and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) virtual private network (VPN). The cloud-based managed solutions are meant to leverage Verizon’s managed security services platform, global IP infrastructure, security operation centres and McAfee’s security technology powered by its Global Threat Intelligence. The jointly developed services are to be made available in North America, South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the agreement, Verizon Business will offer McAfee’s PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance services to banks and organizations that support merchants that manage less than 20,000 e-commerce transactions or up to 1 million credit card transactions each per year. In addition, Verizon Business will provide data centre outsourcing services to McAfee, while the latter will gain access to Verizon Business’ data centre outsourcing, consulting and managed services capabilities.
