Wells Fargo, Banco Azteca enter remittance agreement

US financial services provider Wells Fargo has signed an agreement with Banco Azteca, a Mexican financial services company owned by Grupo Elektra, to expand its remittance network.

As part of the deal, Wells Fargo will extend its consumer remittance payout network distribution to Banco Azteca and Elektras 2,461 locations in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru.

As a result, the company’s ExpressSend customers will now have more than 40,200 remittance payout locations to send money to 15 countries in Latin America and Asia. Additionally, Wells Fargo’s distribution network will reach over 12,400 payout locations.

Wells Fargo provides banking, insurance, investments, mortgage, consumer and commercial finance via over 9,000 stores, 12,000 ATMs, online and other distribution channels across North America and internationally.

In recent news, Wells Fargo has partnered Bancomer Transfer Services, a subsidiary of multinational financial services group BBVA Group, to expand its ExpressSend Remittance network.
