US-based payment services provider Western Union has entered an agreement with UK online payment services provider PayPoint in a bid to extend the Western Union’s network in two European markets, namely the United Kingdom and Romania.

Western Union Money Transfer will be available in the UK on PayPoint’s in-store terminals. This partnership will help the launch of other Western Union products in the future.

Western Union Money Transfer service will be available in Romania via PayPoint’s point of sale terminals across the PayPoint network of convenience stores in urban and rural areas.

PayPoint provides payments and services through a combination of local shops, internet and mobile distribution channels and registers 570 million transactions amounting to GBP 10 billion annually.

Western Union and PayPoint first entered an agreement in 2009 in a bid to support the former’s retail strategy in markets across Central Europe.
