Western Union, Thunes expand payout capabilities to mobiles wallets

Friday 22 March 2019 13:22 CET | News

Western Union and cross-border payments network Thunes have teamed to enable Western Union customers to send funds directly into mobile wallets.

Senders can now utilise Western Union’s growing digital network or an agent location to send funds directly into a recipient’s mobile wallet. The collaboration is said to enable greater financial access for consumers - especially those who lack access to traditional financial services - by connecting them to alternative payment solutions.

The Western Union Company provides cross-border and cross-currency money transfers. The companys omnichannel platform makes it possible for consumers and businesses to send and receive money and make payments with speed and reliability. As of December 2018, the network included over 550,000 retail agent locations offering Western Union, Vigo or Orlandi Valuta branded services in more than 200 countries and territories.
