Western Union to enable government payments in Haiti

Thursday 14 March 2013 08:20 CET | News

The Western Union Company is set to enable government payments in Haiti, bridging the gap between government payments that need to be disbursed and the people who receive them.

Initially, the Western Union service is set to enable parents with school-age children, university students and senior citizens to access government and emergency payments at Western Union Agent locations across Haiti. Future plans may include offering pay-out options including bank accounts, mobile phones or prepaid cards.

Western Union services are offered in Haiti through a strategically combined agent network that includes banks, retail chains and independent locations.

In recent news, Western Union has launched two mobile applications for use with the Western Union Speedpay service to assist billers in introducing mobile payment solutions to their customers.
